Critically Minded is a weekly podcast for ESL learners who enjoy content that challenges their English listening proficiency while improving their critical thinking skills. The podcasts are hosted by David Gann, Nicholas Bufton and Jennie Rothman.

Critical thinking has always been an important part of my life, especially so the last several years. As an ESL teacher and an Internet content provider, I look forward to giving English learners a chance to learn more about critical thinking–and learn a few things myself! –David Gann

Have you ever heard or read something and then repeated it with out thinking, only to realize later that what you passed on was biased or economical with the truth? Then lessen the embarrassment, and join us as we introduce you to the habits and tools of critical thought.

Jennie Roloff Rothman is an instructor in the English for Liberal Arts Program at International Christian University. Her teaching and research interests include academic writing, writing centers, incorporating global issues into the classroom and critical thinking.

      Dear Professor David Gann,

My name is Sanae Fujisaki. I attended the Tohoku EXPO in Sendai yesterday.

I am very excited and grateful to have had the opportunity to meet you and others critical thinking SIG members!

As I briefly introduced myself yesterday, I am hoping to start a PhD program at Tohoku University next year April. My research will be based on developing reading materials which foster critical thinking.

Thank you very much for coming to Sendai and offering me wonderful resources for my research.

      Yours sincerely,

      Sanae Fujsiaki
